Physician Assisted Suicide Should Be A Last Option

Controlling Your Body: Physician-Assisted Suicide A total of five states: Montana, California, Oregon, Vermont, and Washington, allow for their residents to have a relatively simple way to die before naturally suffering to death with a terminally ill condition. Physician-assisted death is â€Å"providing terminally ill patients with a potentially lethal prescription that they could ingest on their own to relieve otherwise intractable suffering by directly hastening death† (â€Å"Existing ‘Last Resorts’†). Although physician-assisted suicide should be a last option and require great amounts of counseling, courts should properly recognize this practice as a legitimate legal action in order to prevent things like unsafe suicides and excruciating pain. When a patient finally comes to the conclusion that they would like to bring their lives to an end, they are to end or opt out of enduring physical and emotional torture. I believe that if he or she first has been diagnosed by multiple separate sources with no r oom for error regarding the severity and mortality of their disease, other individuals should not have the authority to deny this option of relief. This practice, over the past ten years, has consistently accounted for â€Å"approximately one out of every thousand deaths per year† which may appear insignificant, but â€Å"one in fifty patients talk to their doctor about it, and one in six talk with family members† (â€Å"Existing ‘Last Resorts’†, 1). Most of these candidates will find great solaceShow MoreRelatedAssisted Suicide Should Be Legal Essay1490 Words   |  6 PagesThe process of assisted suicide, or physician-assisted death, is a hotly debated topic that still remains at the forefront of many national discussions today. Using Group Activities As Formative Assessment Essay

Using Group Activities as Formative Assessment in Mathematics Classroom The modern educational system is characterized by an increase demand for accountability and high-stakes testing. The demand for such accountability and testing is demonstrated in the quest for the use of summative assessments that provide a summary of the learning progress of students. Generally, the push for increased accountability and high-stakes testing has contributed to the use of different kinds of assessments that are administered at the state, district, school, and national levels. The use of these various kinds of assessments is not only geared towards realization of increased accountability but also act as a means for comparing and ranking students and schools. An example of the type of assessments that can be used in this process is formative assessments for various topics such as mathematics. Formative assessments are defined as systematic procedures of collecting evidence regarding studentsâ₠¬â„¢ learning to inform teaching practices and help students progress towards the achievement of a learning goal. There are various kinds of activities used in formative assessments including group activities. We will take a closer look at this agency and all features of the security measures and plans they have. The Brendan P. The intake/booking process is where the inmates’ information is taken and entered in to a computer. They are then given their inmate number which is how they will be identified and kept track off for security purposes. This area is also completely controlled and monitored by central control. This is also where the medical information is collected, any medical history or current conditions the jail needs to be aware of. This allows

In the play The Crucible by Arthur Miller trouble is high in Salem Essay Example For Students

In the play The Crucible by Arthur Miller trouble is high in Salem Essay In the play, The Crucible, by Arthur Miller, trouble is high in Salem. Young girls are responsible for the hangings of too many innocent lives; they claim that they have seen them (the innocent citizens of Salem) with the Devil. If the citizens admit to signing with the Devil, their lives will be spared. If they deny these accusations however, they are to be hung. John Proctor, a good, honest man. He is truly the tragic figure of this play, because he possesses every element of tragedy. John Proctor was a respectable land owner who had a very high social standing in his community. He had a few fatal flaws, however. Proctor did not attend church routinely; because of this the court looks down on him. On the inside, John is indeed a good man, yet he has a guilty conscience that he will carry with him until the day he dies. He is a truly honest man, however, and will die for his beliefs. In the prologue to the play, we learned that John Proctor has had sexual affairs with Abigail Williams. This is Johns downfall. He has committed a sin, and hasnt admitted it to the church or the court. His wife, Elizabeth, is aware of his sin, and discharged Abby from her duties servicing them. Abby is the main prophecy in this play that sees people with the Devil. She wants to be Johns wife, but Elizabeth impeded this, so she said she saw Goody Proctor (Elizabeth) with the Devil and she signed his book. This is where Johns life takes a dramatic turn. It was late one night and there was a knock at the door. When John answered it, the court officials said that they had a warrant for Elizabeths arrest for being associated with the Devil. John starts to make a scene and rebel, but Elizabeth says she will go without trouble. They found a poppet in her house, with a needle stuck in the stomach. Abby had mysteriously been stabbed in her stomach earlier. That is when she accused Elizabeth of practicing witchcraft. Mary Warren, their servant, says that the doll is hers and she stuck the needle there for safe keeping. She also said Abby saw her make it. However, Elizabeth still goes down for it. After Elizabeth has left, Mary admits to John that she and the girls have been lying about everything; they never saw the Devil or anyone with the Devil. He demands that she goes to court with him tomorrow, and after much hesitation, she agrees. That day, Mary tells the judge Danfourth what she and the other girls have been doing. He is starting to believe her and calls the other girls in for questioning. When they deny it, is like their word against hers, and the court sides with Abby and the other girls, because they start pretending to see a yellow bird that they call Mary, and they say she is sending her spirit out to harm them. John puts an end to this by grabbing Abby by the hair and accusing her of harlotry. The judge asks her, and she denies his allegation. They bring in Goody Proctor to testify (she doesnt know that John has admitted the truth), and all she can say is in her husbands defense; He is a good man now, and only She dissatisfies my husband and I. Eventually Mary turns on John, begins pretending with Abby again, and she accuses John of coming to her at night in her sleep and he wants her name in the Devils book. Therefore, John is tried, and says that he did have contact with the Devil, only to save his life (His wife is found out to be pregnant). .uca71b17e45b9888e595ed9cdc229b90b , .uca71b17e45b9888e595ed9cdc229b90b .postImageUrl , .uca71b17e45b9888e595ed9cdc229b90b .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .uca71b17e45b9888e595ed9cdc229b90b , .uca71b17e45b9888e595ed9cdc229b90b:hover , .uca71b17e45b9888e595ed9cdc229b90b:visited , .uca71b17e45b9888e595ed9cdc229b90b:active { border:0!important; } .uca71b17e45b9888e595ed9cdc229b90b .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .uca71b17e45b9888e595ed9cdc229b90b { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .uca71b17e45b9888e595ed9cdc229b90b:active , .uca71b17e45b9888e595ed9cdc229b90b:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .uca71b17e45b9888e595ed9cdc229b90b .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .uca71b17e45b9888e595ed9cdc229b90b .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .uca71b17e45b9888e595ed9cdc229b90b .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .uca71b17e45b9888e595ed9cdc229b90b .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .uca71b17e45b9888e595ed9cdc229b90b:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .uca71b17e45b9888e595ed9cdc229b90b .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .uca71b17e45b9888e595ed9cdc229b90b .uca71b17e45b9888e595ed9cdc229b90b-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .uca71b17e45b9888e595ed9cdc229b90b:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: The voice over narration EssayWhen they say he has to sign his name to a piece of paper admitting to this crime, he reluctantly signs. Then, he ends up ripping it up because he claims they have already stripped him of everything else, why must they ruin his name also? Because he doesnt sign it, they consider him as denying it, and he is sentenced to hang in the morning. He talks to Elizabeth for the first time in months, and she tells him to do what he feels is right in his heart. He knows the truth, and he knows he had no pacts with Devil, so he refused to admit to and sign his name to a document that he committed a crime that he truly hadnt. John hangs that day, and he dies singing church songs; he dies praising the God that he always had, yet he dies for allegedly having committed himself to the Devil. He now has a better understanding of his life, and also, he has relieved his guilty conscious and he finally has his goodness. This act made his wife know that he was a good person, and he would do anything to protect his family, name, pride, and respect. He is finally enlightened and is connected to God again. John Proctor is a tragic hero in every aspect. He was once at the top of his community and was very highly respected. He also has fatal flaws (nobodys perfect), which eventually eats away at him until his death. Because of his downfall of committing a sin, a series of very dramatic, tragic events begin to happen. He dies defending himself and telling the truth, but even though it shouldnt have happened that way, he has a new grasp on his life and what he was worth. He also freed himself of a guilty conscious that would have taken him to his grave on his own.

Future of Dollar and Probable Currencies-Free-Samples for Students

Question: Discus about the future of dollar and the probable currencies that can take over dollar in being the global currency. Answer: Introduction Global currencies are always backed by commodities in order to protect it from the possible devaluation or collapse. Traditionally the value of the currency is being protected with the value of gold. However, economy of the United States is no longer based on the valuation of gold; rather they are now operating as fiat based economy (Bogdan et al., 2014). This denotes that currently American economy is based on the market supply and demand. Thus, the vulnerability of the dollar gets increased and it is important to determine the future of dollar as the global currency along with the possibility of collapsing. This essay will discuss about the future of dollar and the probable currencies that can take over dollar in being the global currency. In addition, steps to be taken by the US government in protecting dollar will also be discussed. The efforts made by the government in past in protecting the valuation of dollar will also be analyzed along with their implications. Future of dollar Though dollar is the first and major choice in international business and cross border trade with holding the majority of the stake in the global business scenario, but the future of dollar is not so positive. This is due to the reason that in the recent time the valuation of dollar is decreasing, which prompt the holders in the US treasury to dump their investments (Patro, Wald Wu, 2014). Thus, the more investments in dollar will get dumped, the more will be the devaluation of the currency in the global market. Another probable cause for the collapse of dollar is not having any commodity backing. Currently US economy is completely depended on the market forces, which is in line of the capitalist structure of the political system of the United States. However, complete dependence on the market forces s increasing the risk of collapse of dollar. In case of recession like in the case of global recession of 2008, dollar will get badly affected and will get more vulnerable. This will de -motivate global traders and bodies to have less reliance on the effectiveness and viability of the dollar. They will more likely to opt for other currencies with having safer options. This will also lead to the collapse of the dollar as global currency. It should be noted that major portion of the US treasury is with the foreign investors. Thus, the basic and foundation of the valuation of the dollar are depended on the foreign investments and the global market trend. This is further increasing the vulnerability of dollar. In the case of any global economic crisis or war, foreign investors will divest their investments of US treasury and it will lead to the devaluation of dollar (Beltran et al., 2013). Therefore, at any point of time, dollar will face the issue of devaluation in the global market. One of the potential alternatives for replacing dollar is Chinese Yuan. This is due to the reason that China is the major investor in the US treasury and thus holds more determining and influential power in the American as well as in the global economy. Moreover, with the rapid growth of the Chinese economy, valuation of Yuan is further increasing in the global market. Another potential alternative that can replace dollar is Bitcoin (Eyal Sirer, 2014). This is due to the reason in the recent time; crypto currency is gaining huge popularity in the global scenario. However, the security issues attached with the Bitcoin may limit its global growth. Thus, Chinese Yuan may be the most effective and suitable alternative to the American dollar. Steps by the US government It is stated by the US government that they will do anything to protect the valuation of the dollar. However, their effectiveness is limited due to the reason that majority of the American market is determined by the foreign forces. As discussed earlier, China is largest investor in the US treasury and the steps to be taken by the American government will be limited in nature. This is due to the fact that if the any steps taken by the American government cause negative implication on the foreign investors and the United States will lose the market attractiveness and will witness dumping of the investments. This will further reduce the viability of the dollar. Another reason of limitation of the governmental approach is extensive market oriented economy of the United States. America being the flag bearer of the capitalist economy is having open market economy and thus it will be difficult for the government to avoid the marketing forces in taking steps. Steps taken by the government Donald Trump recently accused China and some other key trading partners for currency devaluation in order to gain trade advantage. Moreover, American government already putted tariffs and duties on the import of the goods. This is being done in order to reduce the importance of the currency of the exporting countries and providing them less chance for currency devaluation (Handley Limao, 2013). However, this step caused huge political and economic implication due to the reason that it caused starting of trade war with China. In the current era of globalization, one cannot afford trade war and restrictions in the international trade. Initiation of the trade war with China also caused putting of tax by both the countries on import. It caused political issue between the two countries. On the other hand, global economy is getting affected from the trade war and it will lead to the restrictions on the free trade flow and international business. Conclusion Thus, it can be concluded that dollar may not get collapse in the recent time but with the growing concerns regarding the American economy, it is highly probable that valuation of dollar will get reduced. This essay discussed about the probability of the devaluation of dollar against some major currencies such as Yuan. It is also concluded that steps to be taken by the US government in protecting the valuation of dollar are also limited in nature due to the extensive influence of market forces References Beltran, D.
